JOIN GLOC MUSICAL THEATRE

New paragraph

Rehearsals for Young Frankenstein begin on Wednesday 8th of November at 8pm in Hanwell Methodist Church Hall, and our chorus is open for all new members. This will be our launch night with all information about the show and rehearsals provided, however you are welcome to join us any Wednesday evening for the next few weeks. More information on joining Gloc can be found below, or email membership@glocmt.co.uk with any queries, or f you would like to let us know you will be joining us.

  • How do I join?

Email us at hello@glocmt.co.uk to find out when rehearsals for the next show begin, or come along to a Wednesday rehearsal at Hanwell Methodist Church from 8pm to get a taste of what Gloc rehearsals are like.

  • Do I need previous experience?

Absolutely not! We welcome members of all backgrounds, whether you've never done a show before, or are an amdram regular.

  • Do I need to audition to join?

No, new members do not need to audition to join Gloc. However, auditions are held for principal roles and solo parts in our shows.

  • How are parts for shows cast?

The production team for each show will hold auditions, which usually take place after the initial few rehearsals.

For our main shows, this often involves singing and reading a scene in front of the audition panel.

For our autumn revue shows, this is usually just a singing audition.

Depending on the show, the production team will also run a dance workshop/audition at one of the rehearsals.

  • Can anyone audition for a part?

For our autumn revue shows, anyone can audition for a solo singing part.

With the main productions, we ask that you have been a member for the previous show to audition for a principal part.

  • How much time do I need to commit?

Commitment and attendance are important to Gloc, as we wouldn't produce such great shows without the dedication of the cast, production team and committee.

However we do understand that people have other commitments. At the beginning of a show, the production team will have a holiday chart so you can mark down any days you will be away.

Otherwise we ask that you can attend every Wednesday rehearsal, and the six Sunday afternoons leading up to the show.

If you have a principal role, you will be required on Friday evenings too, and for both revue shows and the main shows, the whole company usually rehearses on most Fridays leading up to the show.

  • How much does it cost?

Annual membership is £50 for full membership, £25 for students and senior citizens, and £10 for an associate membership. A show fee is also payable for each show in which you take part but can vary between shows.

  • Do I have to be on stage?

No, we have many members who take other roles in Gloc, including being on the production teams, helping backstage, with costumes, set, props, front of house, photography, publicity, social media and much more!

  • Does Gloc have any social events?

Yes! We have a social secretary on the committee who organises and runs social events, from fundraisers to theatre trips, from barbeques to rambles.

A group of us usually go to the pub after rehearsals too.
