Side Show

Side Show

15-18 May 2019

The Questors Theatre, Ealing
Based on the true story of conjoined twins and famed entertainers Daisy and Violet Hilton, Side Show is a remarkable musical about acceptance, love, and embracing one’s uniqueness. It follows the twins’ progression from England to America, around the vaudeville circuit to the eve of their appearance in a Hollywood movie in the 1932 movie Freaks.

Starting in a run-down sideshow run by the girls’ guardian Sir, Daisy and Violet are the headline act amongst an array of human oddities. Eventually escaping the sideshow thanks to a vaudeville agent, the sisters are thrust out into the world where all is not as it seems, where their emotions are toyed with, and where ultimately they realise that it is their relationship with each other that will sustain them.

Book and lyrics by Bill Russell  |  Music by Henry Krieger  |  This amateur production of Side Show (2014 Broadway Revival) was presented by special arrangement with Samuel French Ltd.
